Performance Management Metrics
Unisphere supports the display of performance metrics (listed in the online help) that you can use to monitor and manage your network.
For most 5 min diagnostic and historical analysis metrics, Max and Avg are the same.
If real-time data collection is enabled (5 s collection on a reduced set of categories or metrics), Unisphere gathers the maximum real-time values for any real-time metrics and saves them as the maximum value as part of the corresponding 5 min interval save. This behavior captures any spikes that would otherwise be averaged out as part of the 5 min collection.
Max and Avg are different for historical data. Unisphere performs an hourly aggregation rolling the 5 min diagnostic data into historical tables, for example, hourly, daily, monthly. For example, for hourly data, Avg is the average across the 12 intervals in the hour and Max is the highest value in the 12 intervals for that hour.
Dynamic units are supported for the PM metrics in Unisphere 10.0 and later.
In general, units are no longer used in the PM metric names with the exception of some legacy PM metrics where units are still displayed as part of the name.
